How long does a new cold-room installation take?
It depends on size and site. Typically between two days and a week once the panels are on site. We give a clear schedule before starting.
What's the difference between a positive and a negative room?
Positive: 0 to +8 °C — for fresh products (vegetables, meats, dairy, pastries). Negative: -18 to -25 °C — for frozen goods (frozen meats, fish, ice cream). The negative requires thicker insulation (100-120 mm), a heated-frame door and a more frequent automatic defrost cycle.
What insulation thickness should I pick?
Standard positive room: 60 mm (fine for a 20-25 °C delta-T). Positive in very hot areas (Ouarzazate summer): 80 mm. Negative: 100-120 mm (delta-T up to 50 °C). Good insulation cuts electrical consumption by around 30%.
Can an existing room be extended?
Yes — if the panels are compatible, we add matching panels of the same thickness and type. The cooling-load calculation must be redone: a larger or additional unit may be required. A pre-extension study is essential to avoid losing performance.
Why has the power consumption suddenly spiked?
Common causes: fouled condenser (top cause), worn door seal (warm air ingress), excess ice on the evaporator blocking heat exchange, or gas undercharge forcing the compressor to overrun. A diagnostic visit pinpoints the cause in 30 minutes.
What is defrost?
Air moisture condenses as ice on the evaporator. As it builds up, it blocks heat exchange. Professional systems therefore program automatic defrost cycles (every 4-8 hours) using an electrical heater or hot gas. A negative room without automatic defrost is a guaranteed failure.
Do you provide HACCP temperature logging?
Yes — we install electronic data loggers with USB export or GSM/WiFi upload. Required by HACCP frameworks, they prove the goods stayed at temperature throughout storage.
Is R22 refrigerant still allowed?
R22 is banned for new installations and very limited for maintenance (rare, expensive stock). If your room runs on R22 we recommend replacing the unit with a modern solution (R290 propane, R448A, R452A) — better efficiency, greener, and available long-term.
